Praises and Prayers

It’s been a lovely fall, where you need a jacket in the morning and shorts and tees most afternoons. Sofia is struggling with the dress code at school that says they have to wear tights under skirts after fall break. Speaking of fall break, it was 2 weeks for the girls and 2 days for Caid and none for me as it was right before my big mission’s event. But it was lovely and we’ve loved our Newfields pass and our GET OUT passes that some families at church also have, so we can all do events together fur freeeeeeeee (well, kinda free). The girls and I got caught up on all our dentist and doctor appointments, without a few hysterics about shots (we all got shots).

The Covered Bridge Fest never disappoints, and this year we actually used the map and visited two extra bridges—one of which we LOVE and was voted into the official tradition routine. The World Renewal Missions Fair and Celebration went really well, and it is always great to see how it improved from last year. It was wonderful to have our dear friends pastor Ricardo and Assuerio come from Brazil and Mozambique to speak and share. I felt very appreciated at work, and I feel like I could do almost anything if I feel appreciated, like I get stuff done, and like I am attributing to something good/that I believe in. All of that makes me very happy.

Sofia loved her school field trip to Connor Prairie, and I loved being able to join her for that. She has also been invited to join the school counsel to represent 4th grade, so maybe this school isn’t thaaaaaaaaat bad:). Jessica has been cutting up material (and whatever can work like material, like balloons and dryer sheets) to create more “fashions.” Caid has really loved being a part of Celebrate Recovery on Thursday nights, and a teacher planning sesh at Starbucks on Sundays. With our new piano, we are trying out having Anna give the girls piano lessons. Caid and I are working through a Gottman book called "8 Dates,” and I TOTALLY RECOMMEND it for anyone in a serious relationship. It is good stuff. I am visiting Menards and talking to people who know things/watching people who know things on YouTube more than I ever thought I would to try to winterize our house. But I am learning a lot, and generally have a “I can do it until I can’t” attitude.

This is late, so we already had the election, which stressed me out a bit until the day of, when I went into my “Whatever will be, will be” mode, as I am definitely a pre-stressor/griever/planner for things. I am not excited about our next president, but it is what it is, and one of my super powers is making do with what I got. I also felt much better after I wrote a blog about it, as normally is the case.
