Sunday Funday November and December, Part 1

It’s been over two months, and the four Fergies, with 8 suitcases, have moved from Brazil to America. I have not stopped recording or keeping track of Interweb reads…I’ve just…sat on them a bit. We will see what stands up to wait to be posted. I will divide this into three parts—the videos we’ve made and posted before we left Brazil, the videos we made and posted since arriving in the USA, and then the Interweb reads I’ve waited all this time to share.

October 12 is Children's Day in Brazil! We had a great time working with Living Stones to give many kids a special time, and also had a great time with our f...
While Children's day is October 12, Teacher's day is October 15. The International School of Carpina set up a drive thru for the teachers to say hello and go...
Our last hurrah of a beach weekend get-away at Porto de Galinhas. Such a beautiful place, and such a blessing for our family.
There are so many amazing beaches around Porto de Galinhas, that for our first big "thing" with the girls, now that they are a bit older, was for us to visit...
After serving with World Renewal Brazil for 17 years--there are a lot of goodbyes! We may be gone, but we are not done--we are excited to continue serving wi...
How do you put 17 years into 8 bags? Not quickly, and not easily! Our last minute trying to get everything to everyone, and the long trip back to the USA.

There were definitely two distinct different kinds of saying goodbye:

  1. Those who were sad to see us go, and who were focused on all that we would leave behind. For these goodbyes, we needed to be there for them, and try to make the transition as easy as possible for them.

  2. Those who were sad to see us go, and who were focused on our growth. We were so grateful that most people (and pleasently surprised by some) were in this group-who, through tears, would stop to pray for us, who were excited for us on this new journey, and who waved goodbye with a bittersweet purity that broke my heart.

We were grateful (although we wouldn’t have chosen it) for the slower life that Covid had brought, and it gave us time to have our virtual garage sale (with only minor bumps) and to sell most everything but clothes, toys, and books, as well as to have time with people in small groups, and even a “last hurrah” at the beach (when will we ever be able to have a beach vacation for less than $100 a night again?). Goodbyes will never be easy, but they were done well, and done intentionally, and we are grateful.

Something that brought peace to my heart was #gonenotdone, as we may have left Brazil, but we are not done. Thank you all for your prayers
