Prayers and Praises

Praises for our awesome time with a family from Living Stones that I have known since 2004—that now has 9 girls (same momma)! We got to take them to the mall, Frozen 2, and pizza.

Prayers for Caid as he is doing the IMPACT ministry from January 7-20: this week was mostly training, and then they left on Friday for Boa Esperanca.

Prayers for Flavio, Mercia, and Heloise, as they move to Boa Esperanca this week, with the IMPACT group.

Prayers for Pastor Celio, who is taking over pastoring the church in Cajueiro Claro, and his wife Neide, who is taking over the Living Stones program at Cajueiro Claro.

Praises for some personal breakthroughs.

Interweb Reads:

  1. White Expat Privilege: “Privilege is a REALITY. Stop. Before you cut loose with the preloaded, self-protective best one-liners, I am NOT calling you (and by default, me) a racist or a bigot or a Nazi. Privilege and racism are NOT the same thing. Racism is rooted in internal decay. Privilege is based on external realities.” (The Culture Blend)

  2. The Secret to Moving Forward: “In the past decade…I wrecked holy things I never imagined I’d destroy. I ruined things I couldn’t repair and I couldn’t imagine how to live through the next day. I scarred people irrevocably. I fought self-harming daily. I nearly died by self-loathing repeatedly. We survived a drought. I survived heart failure. We survived raising six teenagers.” (Ann Voskamp)

  3. Why I left Westboro Baptist Church: BEST TED TALK I’ve seen this year (so far)! I seriously need to do a blogpost on this—AMAZING, with 4 excelent points to follow. THE TALK for the current political climate.

  4. How to do a visual Examen for the New Year: I wish I’d seen this before I did my version of it (they have some things I woulda done) (A Life Overseas)

  5. Living Borrowed Lives: “The question remains, what happens when I lose my borrowed life? How do I move forward? How do we move forward? We grieve. We cry. We pray. We praise. We redraw our maps with the One who created us. We continue our borrowed life in another place, trusting that one day this will all make sense.” (A Life Overseas)
