Sunday Funday March 15
Prayers and Praises
I know this is basically a week late. Next Sunday Funday I will talk about this current week, in which we closed up school, Living Stones, and most everything else in Brazil. But first, let’s catch up on the week before that, which was pretty normal until Thursday.
Prayers for my parents, who are both in the extra risky part of Corona virus. They went into quarenteen Thursday, March 12. It was crazy to see the change on Facebook (my virtual link to the American culture pulse) from Thursday lunch to Thursday evening: it was like I could feel the change.
Prayers for peace, as while I was teaching at Living Stones Guadalajara I realized if my parents did get sick, I’d be in quarenteen and not able to see them if I tried to fly home. I ended up crying during the older boys class…and they were super kind about it—and the best behaved they’ve ever been.
Praises for celebrating Caid’s 30th Birthday! I cannot say just how amazing he is, and how happy I am to get to be able to do life with him. He makes life better. I am grateful that we got to celebrate before anything closed down!
Nothing was said in Brazil about social distancing or closing anything until Monday, March 16, so I will save all of that story for the next Sunday Funday.

Social Distancing and Beth March: “Does Beth’s kindness kill her? History is full of people who die helping others. The “Chernobyl Three” who stepped into a radioactive area to drain a pool, and in doing so averted another explosion; Annalena Tonneli, who fought TB in the Horn of Africa and ended up killed by terrorists; Corrie Ten Boom whose family helped Jews escape by hiding them in their home – there are far too many to count. We are in an unprecedented time in this century. A global pandemic has been announced and “social distancing” has been strongly advised.” (Communicating Across Boundaries) (my first of MANY articles about Covid-19)
Team Mottos are a Must: “A phrase or slogan that is a guiding principle for your family or a sentence that expresses the purpose or spirit of your family. Yet, if we take the concept of mottos and apply it to more than just families, how could that impact our life and work overseas?”
