Sunday Funday August 23

I don’t have the video from our awesome trip to Boa Esperanca done yet, but I do have the video done from Caid’s trip in January to Boa Esperanca, as well as a special video for Flavio and Mercia and Helo, in memory of our over 10 years working and serving together.

Prayers and Praises

So so grateful for getting to take a “short term mission trip” with my Cajueiro Claro church family to see our missionaries that we sent out—Flavio, Mercia, and Heloise. It was short, it was mostly driving there and back—but it was amazing and I was so blessed. More to come with a video later!

Prayer requests: it looks like Brazilian schools may not go back to school at all this year, meaning the public schools will have lost a complete school year of learning. This is a horrible loss, and we are grieving a lot. This means no Living Stones for this year, and we don’t know about next.

For the International school, it means a big shake-up to try to fill in as many cracks as we can, which is a huge overhaul for us teachers with a completely new system and new hours and new responsibilites. Please pray for us!

  1. Rather than writing whole blog posts, I have been working on ways of presenting the information I want to share in easily digestible mini-bites. And I think Instagram does this really well (and posts to Facebook for me, so it is like two for one). I have created two visuals for two of the big things I’ve been thinking through and working out in my life lately. It brings me a lot of joy to figure out something well enough in my head that I can put it into something beautiful and share it with the world:).

3. The Mythology of Karen: an interesting, secular read about confusing history and present memes. This isn’t about right and wrong really, and certianly isn’t giving any helpful suggestions on how to move forward…but interesting nontheless. (The Atlantic)

4. 10 minute refrigerator dill pickles: I haven’t found dill in Brazil, but this was a refreshing break from everything political and virusy, and I have lots of cucumbers around all the time. (Shannan Martin Writes)

6. What wil summer be like without the usual vbs, camps, and youth mission trips? Great question! I really appriciated this, especially as we try to re-evaluate well, most everything with working with kids. (Faith and Leadership)
