Sunday Funday February 2
Prayers and Praises
Can you believe it? I am basically caught up on videos! Thanks especially to Claire, who helped out a lot with the kiddos while she was here.
Praises that Sofia got to go to day camp! Prayers as she got sick half-way through on Wednesday. The rest of the week was sorta a sickly one.
Praises that Claire got to her homestay in Southern Brazil safely, where she has a semester abroad (and then we get her back in June!)
Praises for lots of planning that we got to do for the beginning of a new school year at the International school and Living Stones! Prayers for the LOTS MORE that we need to do!
I (Rachel) will be teaching three mornings and two afternoons at the International school. I am especially excited about some special modules I put together, like Speech and Debate (thanks Claire!) and Social Media. I am especially asking prayer for some challenging classes with younger children that is a bit outside my comfort zone!
Prayers for the community of Cajueiro Claro. Someone, who used to be a Living Stones kid, was shot and killed in his home in the community. He is related to some of our current kids in the program, and it is a really hard and sad situation on so many levels. We are especially glad that we have somewhere safe for the kids to go during Carnaval this month (February 22-26), and if you would like to provide some scholarships for kids to go to Carnaval Camp, go here.

Why Anti-refugee sentiment within Christian circles is anti-Jesus: “When U.S. Christians promote the message that the comfort and traditions of Americans come before the very life of vulnerable human beings because they are strangers, we are in direct opposition to what Jesus taught: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” There is no place for “America first” thinking in the Kingdom of God. As followers of Jesus, we are called to love, serve, and welcome all people, especially the most vulnerable among us.” (Relevant)
