Listen to What Fills you with Wonder and Joy (part 3)

In my homemade daily devotional, I also added the question, “How can I add wonder to today?” It seemed like a great idea, but it actually turned out to be quite annoying—because honestly, as a mom, and in transition—there isn’t a lot of time to think about yourself, and to do what brings you wonder.

Mostly, I didn’t know WHAT I wanted, or what would fill me with wonder. It is really hard to live an intentional life. So often we live in the space of just “getting it done” and breathing later. I found in a pandemic, in rural Brazil, that adding wonder to my day was often going for a walk, or takeout sushi, or picnics. Maybe it was a podcast or a chapter of an e-book (can’t get too wild and crazy now).

We had to get creative about things in the pandemic, but sitting with ourselves to answer, “How can I add wonder to today?” is an important question, and I am better off for it. I really appreciated the message last Sunday (at Horizon Central) about Ecclesiastes, and enjoying things now.
